Grazie Mauri Restaurant

First entry for the new year, and I shall showcase some pretty awesome western restaurants we've been to for the past few weeks. Technically I was suffering a bit of food poisoning (no thanks to my part-timer colleague giving me really crappy nasi lemak that seemed to only affect me instead of the others that she had treated), but now I'm more or less alright. At least I'm not crapping every 10 minutes or whatnot.

But anyway, grossness aside, here's the first two piece for the new year. During another one of our Saturday lunch date, I went with my friend to Grazie Mauri Restaurant

This be the signboard and entrance of the restaurant. It's situated in the Gadong area just along the same block as LaMee and Excapade. It used to be Sushi Tei restaurant that I had the courtesy to try out (though I didn't have a camera, so I didn't manage to make a piece out of it), and it was pretty good and almost near perfection of its authenticity with the real deal (unlike Excapade's fusion style), but it was ultimately squashed like a bug by Excapade's more popular demand.

Trigger-happy on their special menu signboard. After a bit of renovation for this restaurant, it was soon taken over by Mauri, who owns a few branches throughout Brunei, one being Villa Mauri nearby my home area in Lambak Kanan, Berakas and another one in Seria (I forgot it's ~what~ Mauri). At least they kept the green front restaurant design on. It's a real shame for Sushi Tei though. If they had lowered the price a little, maybe they might actually survive a little longer

This be the interior of the restaurant. Looks so much different than when it was Sushi Tei, and in fact, they even have upstairs dining now, though not sure whether you have to reserve a seat or not to be able to dine upstairs. I hope it would not suffer Sushi Tei's fate though, because when we entered, we were the only ones there. I like their Christmas decorations though

Trigger-happy on the items on our table, though I noticed the table mat probably have seemed to be the remnants of what it was when it was still Sushi Tei. Talk about recycling XD

This be our drink, which is Dad's Root Beer. Tastes a little bit different than the usual root beer we usually drink, or A&W drinks as well. Maybe it's because it's commercialized into the usual soft drink taste, I suppose

My friend ordered seafood soup, which the interesting part is that they serve it while wearing gloves, either because the bowl was warm or it's for hygiene reasons. Now that's professional. His soup looks ultimately creamy, and you can really taste the seafood in the soup itself without having to eat the seafood first to get the feel of it. Very flavourful and authentic

I ordered cream of mushroom soup, and wow, was that an amazing feat for my taste buds. The right texture, the right creaminess, the right temperature, the right flavour...everything was right and absolutely ah-ma-zing~!! Mmm~! I could probably just live on this soup alone Xd

There was an offer of $8.80 for all carbonara food (and since we're a little tight on cash) so we decided to order that. My friend ordered salmon carbonara if I'm not mistaken, and you can literally smell the salmon and the cheese coming from the carbonara

I ordered prawn carbonara, since I'm in a mood for prawn, and the taste is just amazing~!! The creaminess and thickness of the cheese is overwhelming the senses of my tongue and the prawn was just right, very Q, but it's still the cheese I was a big fan of, because just mere words cannot describe how ultimately creamy and bursting with flavour this carbonara is, and it's only for $8.80!! What a bargain~!

This be my dessert. I think the name of it was triple-cocoanut-something-something (I suck at dish names), and it was an interesting treat. All the toppings under the sun like colour rice and chocolate rice and wafer roll and chopped almonds with vanilla and chocolate ice-cream. A great treat, though probably I shouldn't have eaten it coz it was really cold and I'm in an air-conditioned room. Sometimes I feel probably I'm cold-blooded or something

My friend ordered Rosemary's (I think that's what it's called), which is hot chocolate melted pudding with ice-cream. Looks great, and tastes great too, from the way I tasted it, but be warned, it's served on an uber hot bowl, so do not touch it!

Here you go, my two-cents on Grazie Mauri, so if you've been to the other Mauri branches and love their food, you should try this branch. If you haven't tried any, all the more to visit Grazie Mauri! It's a sensation to your taste buds that you definitely would not want to miss!
