Shikai Restaurant
Back in Brunei again and back to scouring the area of Brunei to taste its food. This time, we have gone to Shikai Restaurant.
This be the entrance of Shikai Restaurant. It's been around for quite a while, made famous by their Chinese cuisines, mainly duck. It is located somewhere within Batu Bersurat just beside Red Box Cafe (I think that's the name).
This, along with a few outside tables, serves as those who wants to have an open-air dining experience. Personally, this tent reminds me of the olden days of men who sit beside the lake with their tea or wine as they enjoy a quiet game of Chinese chess. LOL
This be the road to the entrance of Shikai. It's got a nice feng shui feel to it, as running water at the entrance is a good way to attract wealth

This be the interior of Shikai. All their tables and chairs have the authentic Made-in-China feel. And the most interesting would be their menus that is stuck on the wall using the Chinese 4-word syllable quote to describe the dish, which also applies to the menu as well.
These are our drinks: Milo Ping (as usual) and Kopi-O. My friend said that the coffee tasted strong, but I'm not that adventurous to find out. I never have the immunity against coffee anyways
This is my friend's dish: Roast duck with rice. Looks yummy, though the meat looks sinfully yet indulgently oily
Aside from our ala carte dishes, we also ordered some dim sum side-dishes
I think this is some kind of dim sum wrapped in tofu skin (forgot what was it called). Not a fan of tofu, so my friend gets to eat it all
This is supposed to be spicy dumplings, in which I thought it would be the Mala (numbing spiciness) kind, but it wasn't even spicy at all. It's just basically dumplings soaked in sesame oil and cili padi to make it spicy
And this is my dish: Roast duck with noodles. As you can see, my noodles is literally buried under vegetables and duck. Tastes good, but the duck meat is very tough to bite or tear off from the bone, and not as tender as it should. It makes me wonder what kind of old duck they used to cook this
There you have it. So if you have a sudden craving for duck, go right ahead and try out this place.
