Sorriso Restaurant & Pizzeria

During my wardrobe make-over shopping spree with my gal pal, we decided to have lunch nearby the first shopping stop we wanted to go to, which is Deseo Living at the Regent Square (some call it the New Kiulap area). And we decided that the best place would be somewhere new, which is in Sorriso Restaurant & Pizzeria

This be the signboard (or there lack of) of the restaurant. It's actually fairly new and was originally Pastamania, but after shifting the branch to another area, they decided to open a newer Italian restaurant with all the makings of it. They have yet to put up the signboard and everything, but so far, it looks pretty reputable

This be the interior of the restaurant. As I said, it had all the makings of an Italian restaurant, but more or less like a bit of a beginner's design, since when we entered, we saw the boss actually testing and picking out which painting they should have to hang in the wall

Trigger-happy on the rest of the decors, including the board up near the ceiling with the today's special on them. It was pretty interesting, but a little too high-up for us and too far off to see (especially when it's at the entrance where the sun would get into my eyes), so I couldn't really tell what was for sale. I got teased by the cook that I will have to pay for copyright for taking that picture though XD

More trigger-happy moments, namely the menu where I finally found out the name of the restaurant

A bit of an appetizer of Italian crackers with radish sauce (I think). Tastes a bit better without the sauce though, or maybe I'm just not used to the taste of it, even though I ended up eating most of it with the sauce anyways, LOL

We both ordered Pepsi Light with a twist of lemon. Can't understand how is it that Pepsi and Coke Light tend to have an odd aftertaste or something. Could be the lack of sugar that revealed the actual acidic taste of the drink somehow

My gal pal ordered mushroom soup with garlic bread as appetizers. I tried a taste. It's actually quite creamy and chunky, just the way I like it, and very flavourful, though prolly not as flavourful as Mauri's soup

I ordered salad (which I totally forgot the Italian term for it), and it's basically squid with lettuce and cabbage soaked in olive oil or something. Tastes pretty good and fresh, actually, the squid being nice and Q and chewy and the vegs crunchy and juicy

Based on the waitress' recommendation I decided to order their special, which is something of a lamb shank with some kind of sauce (not mushroom, more like stew sauce). It was pretty huge portion and the meat is actually quite tender and easy to come off the bone, and I thoroughly enjoyed every bite

My gal pal ordered carbonara (I think), and it looks pretty thick and cheesy in terms of the presentation. I don't think I remember tasting it, so I can't comment much about that but it definitely looks tasty

In between meals we were actually surveyed by the restaurant chef and were asked as to how we knew about this restaurant, and we chatted for a bit and thanks to his strong recommendation, we took on his offer to try their Italian dessert as long as they gave us complimentary drinks

This was the dessert he recommended to me, which I totally forgot the name, but it was just an amazing taste. According to the chef, it was a mini-delicacy in Sicily where he used to eat when he was a kid, and the actual size was much smaller than that. A bit of drizzle of chocolate, crunchy on the outside, cheese chunks with whipped cream, and biting down just right. It was probably the best Italian dessert I had ever had by far.

This restaurant has pretty good potential, and worth going to to show them a bit of support, but do go with a fat wallet.
