Today's post is a bit more of a homemade cooking thing, because we were invited by our lady boss to try out her cooking. We did last time to try her Soto noodles but I forgot to take pictures coz it was so delicious and I was caught in the moment, so this time, I was sure to arm myself with it beforehand.
This time, she cooked laksa, and the ingredients were put in buffet style where we can take as much as we like. Our lady boss also invited her other friends to sample her food, and I swear it almost felt like being in a Hong Kong market or something with the free flow of Cantonese left and right.
Though I realized one thing: If I were to stay quiet and don't say a word, they will never know that I understand every single word that they're saying, because I don't have the Chinese look XD You could send me into a Chinese-oriented environment and I can probably hear all your deep, dark secrets and no one is the wiser!

This be the fabled laksa that is personally cooked by our lady boss. There were a lot of ingredients there to choose from to put in our laksa like prawns (pretty big ones), fish balls, egg slices, chicken strips and the lovely garnishing of spring onions, parsley and fried shallots. I definitely didn't waste my time putting in every single ingredient there is, except I think I excluded fish cakes, not sure why

Close-up of the laksa. It has a divine taste. Almost oriental. You can tell the difference between a Malay laksa and this laksa. It just had the feel of a Chinese dish to it, and the flavour is just right. Though there was one other thing different, which is the soup of the laksa is not spicy on its own, unlike the soup of Malay laksa that tastes curry-ish. You have to add sambal or spicy sauce to get it spicy. I added some sort of spicy sauce from Hong Kong and it was spicy~!
In the end, even though I knew I was supposed to loose weight so that I can fit my clothes during the photo shoot this September, I ended up getting seconds. It was that delicious~!
I do hope we get invited again~! Xd
