Hospital Food
Was admitted to the hospital due to showing signs of labour, and while we wait for the inevitable, this is what I was served, which is pretty much almost the same meal all the time for dinner.
This one was when my baby girl was admitted for jaundice and needing some phototherapy to reduce her yellowness. It looks way better than the other dinners I have while admitted, and it was my chance to try it (very tempted too, in fact), but sadly I was in confinement mode and I wasn't sure if I can eat them, so I let my hubby have it instead.

We didn't realize it, but we went in there almost near closing time after lunch, but thankfully one of the waitresses there was a friend of my dad in law, so we got special entry.

This definitely tasted better and with just the right amount of seasoning for flavour and no thirsty aftermath (though drinking 100Plus while eating might've done the trick), and the best part is we got a good cooking show and food is fresh out of the pan, steaming piping hot and delicious. I especially love the grilled veggies though, fresh and crunchy and juicy, and compliments perfectly with the rice. Totally would go back there and eat again.

The Library Cafe

The place reminds me of the nice read-and-dine cafes in Japan I see in mags and TV and in Taiwan I used to see or pass by whenever I'm out in the town. Tons of nice shelves filled with books both fiction and non-fiction. Of course, since I'm heavily pregnant and need more cushioning on my seats, I chose the sofa seat which just so happen to have some Archie comics in one of the shelves I'm next to.

| My order |
Technically I also ordered a seafood pizza, but by the time I finished eating it, I realized that I didn't take a picture of it. While the food is quite delicious, they were definitely true to the rumours that it's WAY overpriced for a dessert that you can get about a couple dollars cheaper in other cafes, and the pizza didn't even do the price justice either as it was a 7-incher for $6++ Even the drink that you can usually get for $1++ in a supermarket costs $3++ here. And there is not much options to choose from as they only specialize in tea time snacks and not full-on lunch meals. The pizza was the only decent lunch meal they have served.
I have expected it to be pricey, and I correctly (sort of) assumed that we're basically paying for the services of using their books and tables and space instead of the actual food itself, but it was just a little too expensive for comfort though. But still, the atmosphere was right and you can actually relax and enjoy the peace and quiet while doing your reading and stuff, and I was actually able to get some of my freelance writing work done there. That's a plus.
If you want a nice quiet place to relax, study, read some books and enjoy a cuppa slowly to whittle the day and kill time, or to have a classy library experience with food and drinks, this might be the place for you, but if you're here for an actual decent meal, sadly you'll be disappointed, and come out a lot poorer on the wallet LOL
Overall rating: 6/10 for the food, 3/10 for the price, 8/10 for the atmosphere
Tea Time Cafe, WyWy
![]() |
| Location: Berakas, Lambak Kanan area, above WyWy, and the building just right next to First Emporium Berakas branch |
We were surprised when we went upstairs and realized that Tea Time Cafe actually is part of WyWy, that WyWy owns the cafe. Not exactly sure what's the point, since they might prolly just serve the same food, but I guess they wanna branch out to the snack/tea time department, I suppose.

| My hubs' chicken rice dish |

| My ayam penyet with fried kuey tiaw dish |
Overall, my dish tastes pretty good. I didn't get to taste how my hubs' food taste like, but mine was pretty acceptable. The kuay tiaw has the right amount of flavour and oiliness, but the chicken was a little dry and hard to chew and pick apart. Maybe cut down on frying time would've done it wonders.
May or may not do a reprisal, but overall, it's an acceptable level of quality for recommendation.

Menawan Restaurant, Imperial Hotel

The food in display is the typical Western and Asian breakfast meals, but of course, I have no interest in eating the Asian meals because it's a little early in the morning and my stomach can't exactly stomach Asian breakfast, not unless it's brunch. Options are quite little though, actually, for Western breakfast. Wish there were more served.

I actually tried one of the Asian breakfast, which is the laksa, but sadly the noodles was not fully cooked, so it tasted a bit tough and doughy and I couldn't enjoy it as much. But at least the Western breakfast compensated for that and I enjoyed those.

| Our garlic rice |
![]() |
| Ebi tempura for side dish |
The food overall is pretty nice and flavorful. I especially like the tori katsu chicken, very crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The garlic rice have just the right combination of flavour to it and the wakame and ebi tempura, while not as good as the ones in Excapade or Misato, taste just as good. Sadly because it was flavourful, it's also quite salty, and leaves you with the thirsty aftermath. I had to buy a large drink for my movie snacks after that, it was that salty. You don't feel it at first, just after you finish eating.
Other than that, it's a pretty interesting place to enjoy your meal. Prolly might do a reprisal, since we were a little racing for time while eating coz we're looking forward to Star Wars VII, but other than that, go ahead and give it a shot. Just be prepared for the aftermath.
