Champagne Restaurant Revamped

My part-timer colleague decided to have his car washed and stuff, so we decided to eat somewhere which is nearby a convenient car wash area, and who'd've thunk, we ended up eating in Champagne Restaurant

Apparently Champagne Restaurant had undergone a bit of renovation and revamping after a small switch of management in the works, and from a typical small old school kopitiam that I used to know the first time I came here with my friend, now it has fallen into the trap of modernization where it looks like any other modern day Chinese kopitiam

Here's how the inside looks like now. It seemed to have shrunken in size, and gone are the chairs where you usually see at the side of the area that is a long two-seater bench, and now replaced with common normal chairs, and it's no longer operated by the old school fan, but now fully air-conditioned

My part-timer colleague decided to order Kasturi Ping to see what exactly is the hype all about it and why my best friend keeps ordering only that for drinks. Not sure what he thinks about it though, but at least it seems like he's not complaining

I ordered Milo Ping, just felt like one of my favourite drinks at a time like this, since now I get milk every morning and don't need to make my breakfast drink in the office as before when we haven't got a maid

My part-timer colleague ordered fried wet meehoon, coz he couldn't decide what to eat actually at his small budget before payday

I didn't feel like ordering the usual sinful artery-blockage indulgence of the kolo mee they take pride in making here, just in case it wouldn't taste as good as before the change of management, so I decided to order something else familiar, which is wa tan ho. Tastes pretty good and flavourful more or less, but now that I think about it, maybe I should've ordered the kolo mee to see how it differs or if it stayed the same

At the moment, this is what I got from this revamped version of the restaurant. Despite the nice food, I dunno why, it just doesn't feel right somehow. It was no longer the old school feeling that would take you back in time when you used to dine in those kopitiam when you were a kid anymore. I guess inn this case, modernization does bite
