Even though I'm not a picky eater, I definitely did not enjoy this place and would give it a 2/10 for this. So if you come to Miri, unless you are really die-hard hungry, avoid this place like the plague.

99 Cafe
On the last day of our photoshoot in Miri (and after rescheduling for another appointment due to our unsuccessful outdoor photoshoot), we decided to have a quick lunch before going back to Brunei, so we gave a shot on one of the stalls nearby, and picked 99 Cafe to try our luck

This be the signboard of the cafe. It's just right across the road opposite to the Boulevard Shopping Complex, and down the really long end of the block where there were quite a number of carparks. I forgot which block it was supposed to be or close to be though, sorry

This be the interior and display of the cafe. Almost like Ming's, it is a sort of food court-ish cafe of sorts where you order from either one of those stalls. But it seems that the economy meals counter seems to be the most popular, in addition with the cha sau sau rou and duck fast food rice section
We both ordered iced Milo, just coz we can't think of anything creative to drink

My hubby ordered char sau with rice, in which he said it was the worst he had ever eaten. I can sympathize with that. I tasted one of the char sau and it actually tastes...salty. Not the sweet kind of taste you usually eat when you eat char sau, but this is actually salty. And it's not salty because of the sauce or anything, but the meat itself was salty. Who had ever heard of that? This is probably the first ever store that actually serve salty char sau.

I ordered Penang fried kuey tiaw, and I gotta say this is probably the oiliest Penang fried kuey tiaw I've ever had, and it's oily in a not-so-good way. The biggest beef I had was that it tasted a bit bland and the most important ingredient, which is the clams that was the number one part of Penang fried kuey tiaw, was not in there. Probably the most unsatisfying meal I've ever had
Even though I'm not a picky eater, I definitely did not enjoy this place and would give it a 2/10 for this. So if you come to Miri, unless you are really die-hard hungry, avoid this place like the plague.
