Teo Poi Hoon Foodstall

I'm going off to an interview at a new job spot, so before we went, my hubby and I went for lunch at somewhere near his workplace so that at the same time, I can print out my CV and resume.

This be the signboard of the restaurant. It's probably one of the longest-running restaurant residing within the Kiulap area. It used to start off with one stall, then expanded the size by using two lots, making it bigger for more people to dine in

This be the direction to the kitchen

This be the interior of the restaurant. Nice and cozy, and has every vibe of a Chinese restaurant especially with all the decors and the chairs they used around it, though it's still a level below the design in Shikai

Some of the decors that are around the area that I took while waiting for our order. I noticed that the waitress there seemed to be a little clueless in taking orders and had to lean down to see which one we were pointing at in the menu to see what we ordered. I suppose she's new

We ordered iced lemon (my hubby) and hot barley (mine), and both of them are sort of colour buddies~! XD Such a coincidence

The barley drowned in my cup

The lemon hovering in my hubby's drink

I ordered ladies' fingers with mince meat and rice. Ladies' fingers are my second favourite veggie next to kangkung. Some don't like it because of its slimy texture, but to me, that's what makes it so tasty, and the aftertaste you get when you bite onto their seeds is just addictive. Although the only beef I have about it is that the vegetables were still a little raw and tough to chew. Maybe they didn't cook it long enough, because it was supposed to be nice and soft (and oh-so-good slimy). The sauce itself is just nice and the portion is pretty big too. I dunno if it's true or not, but I heard that men are not encouraged to eat too much ladies' fingers because it has a component that boosts women's hormones or something like that. LOL!

My hubby ordered seafood and tofu with rice, and specifically requested it to be Japanese tofu. We both share the common love for Japanese tofu, though for a moment there when the order was done, it was given to the wrong person at the table next to us because she ordered something similar which was chicken and tofu. Then the waitresses just gathered there discussing like as if it was a big secret conference or something and looked at each other blurry before I decided to voice out and said it could be my hubby's order, which I was right. Turns out almost all of the waitresses there were new, coz technically we dont recognize either of them. I snitched one of the tofu and it tasted pretty good at just the right texture. Yummy~!

So fancy a Chinese restaurant with a long-running reputation within the area who is just as established as Lucky and as well decored as Shikai? Go here
