Yai Yai Restaurant & Catering
My friend was fancying a bit of Thai food and he heard that somewhere nearby there is a Thai restaurant that is pretty well-known and delicious around the ranks, so after a bit of searching, we found this: Yai Yai Restaurant & Catering

This be the signboard and entrance of the restaurant. It's located within Jalan Gadong area, under Bangunan Hasanin 2, slightly at the corner side. Never ever heard of this restaurant before. So we were not sure whether it would really be authentic Thai food or not. We'll just need to put it through the test

This be the interior and the seat we took. It looks almost a bit like Lemongrass, but just slightly classier than that. At least it's not too cold, and they have WiFi access for me to demonstrate the coolness of my new laptop ^_^ Though the table is pretty much kinda small for me to fit everything PLUS my laptop

This be the coconut juice that we ordered. The juice is nice and sweet, and the flesh is oh so yummy and tender, that I couldn't resist scraping it and eating it. Unfortunately the one my friend got had its flesh too attached to the coconut, so he didn't bother to scoop and scrape it out to eat. LOL!

My friend ordered his usual green curry with rice just to test the waters, and boy, I have to admit when he said that this was the spiciest green curry he had ever eaten by far. I actually tried a spoonful of the green curry and I immediately choked at the spiciness of it. Man, I'm already starting to sweat just thinking about how spicy it was. That's how strong it is!

I also ordered their in-house Tom Yam just to test the waters, and boy (again), I seemed to have tested waters that were not meant to be tested because, even without adding anything else, not even pepper as I usually do when I order Tom Yam from other restaurants, it was spicy as HELL!! It's the spiciest I've ever tasted!! I was literally sniffling and sweating and in tears by the time I was done with the food. It's even surprising that I'm still able to carry on eating till the end!

No food is complete without trying a side dish, so my friend ordered papaya salad just to try it out to see if it's as spicy as the one in Jerudong. Unfortunately, maybe because they heard my comment, the papaya salad was not too spicy as expected, but it's still nice and delicious to eat, though out of all that clutter, there's only one chilli in there, which explains the non-spiciness

I was torn between ordering regular spring rolls or this special-looking moon spring rolls, and based on the waitress's recommendation, I decided to order the latter. Though I'm kinda slightly disappointed that it came out this way because I was expecting it to be a lot bigger than it should. It tastes alright, I suppose, but I guess maybe because of the spiciness, my tastebuds were numbed and dulled to taste anything else.
Surprisingly after the "tear-jerker" experience, drinking coconut juice apparently cools me off and the spiciness actually stopped lingering. According to the business card (that I grabbed later after the meal), it seems to be a sort of Thai-convert, but they seemed to remain to their roots to produce awesome authentic Thai food.
So if you crave really authentic Thai food that makes you eat till you cry, but you don't want to go all the way to Jerudong, you can give this place a shot
