Ochado

I went out with my hubby and my princess at The Mall, just to give our princess a little nice fresh air and a bit of the outside world. We got thirsty and there's this new drink station in The Mall, so we wanted to give it a try. Here's Ochado.

Le workers

Oreo Chocolate Milk Tea (my drink)

Roasted Milk Tea with Grass Jelly (my hubby's drink)

3Q Passionate Tea (my maid's drink)
It's an interesting combination of chocolate and milk tea, and you could really taste the roast tea from the drink from my hubby, but dunno how did the tea my maid has tastes like though, so can't comment on that.

They've got pretty good tastes, so maybe I might try to sample others

Hua Hua Restaurant

Had a limited short time for a lunch date with my buddy, so we decided to eat somewhere nearby, and that somewhere is Hua Hua Restaurant

Location: Kiulap area, nearby the Gripps Cafe

Setting: Typical Chinese kopitiam setting, just like any other, nothing too impressive about

My ice-Milo drink

My buddy's ice milk tea

Both our order of Hokkien black sauce noodles, or so I think it is, I totes forgot the actual name
The food tastes so-so, I suppose, but then again, I was pressed for time, so I couldn't really actually sit and enjoy, though I did order some extra side dish of kolo wantan for the sake of having more filling food. I gotta say the wantan tastes pretty good though. Prolly a reprisal may be better for me to give a sound comment, but overall, I give a rating of:

6/10

Au Lait Returns

Just felt like sharing a certain meal I discovered after having breakfast with my dad in law, which is the mixed breakfast.

It's basically a special morning breakfast menu where you can order a simple breakfast consist of 4 of the about a dozen dishes to choose for your meal and a cup of tea or coffee, all for only $5! LOL

My choice of baked beans, hash browns, plain omelet and French toast
The mixed breakfast choices are as follows (as far as I can remember):
  • Poached eggs
  • Half-boiled eggs
  • Hard boiled eggs
  • Sunny-side ups
  • Scrambled eggs
  • Plain omelet
  • Mixed salad
  • Hash browns
  • Pancakes
  • French toast
  • Wholemeal toast
  • Baked beans
  • Grilled tomato
  • Chicken sausage
  • Mushrooms

It's pretty tasty, though the portion is kinda small and they take liberties with certain items there, but you gotta love the hash browns and French toast. It's to die for

And it's only $5! Seriously!

Trio Hotpot Restaurant

Went to celebrate my mom in law's birthday and my grandma in law's Chinese birthday (though why they would wanna separate Chinese birthday and actual birthday is beyond me) a couple of months ago at eating out, so it was decided that we have shabu-shabu, so we opt for Trio Hotpot Restaurant.

Location: Wisma Central (I think) where the main Concepts computer store is located, at the far left of the building

Setting: Typical restaurant with upstairs and downstairs dining, a little bit cramped on both floors, but pretty nice ambience and everything

Shabu-shabu ingredients and sauce booth

Our dining table with the shabu-shabu cooker stove

It's a buffet style shabu-shabu with all-you-can-eat ingredients for your shabu-shabu, and their products are very, very fresh, especially the prawn, and it was almost in unlimited supply. Drinks are also inclusive of the buffet and also almost in unlimited supply, so we can refill as much as we want without extra charge. But we must finish whatever we eat because they have penalty charges for every 100g of food we leave behind.

It's a bit of a first-come-first-serve basis, and you must book beforehand. Apparently the upstairs is pretty much exclusively for the buffet shabu-shabu while the downstairs is exclusively ala carte meals. I am absolutely satisfied and filled with them scrumptious yummies and highly recommend coming here to eat, but only if you make early reservations because the tables upstairs are quite limited.

Overall rating: 8.5/10

Bistro Chez Fio

My buddy and I were stumped as to where to go to for lunch, and we were figuring to try something new, so we just randomly picked one restaurant and ended up choosing Bistro Chez Fio

Location: Kiulap area, same row with where Escapade Kiulap branch is

Setting: Very chic setting, feels like one of those places where you have your own maid and butler to serve you and stuff, though the waiters seem to look the part of the butler with the suit, but not the waitresses. If the waitresses were to wear maid outfits, it would be awesomely complete

Having root beer like a sir

My buddy's Royal Joe, basically a high-classed version of Sloppy Joe with sunny-side up and fat fries.

My grilled cheese panini, which feels like eating something between a toast and a biscuit
Only difference of my buddy's order with a regular Sloppy Joe is the sunny-side up included in the patty, and technically this is the first time I've ever seen a real Sloppy Joe, which really is quite sloppy despite it being 'royal', LOL. Apparently the bread for my panini is home-made, which is why it took them quite a long while to make. Surprisingly my meal came with a salad side dish, though the dressing a bit too sour for my taste.

The price is more or less reasonable, but leaning more towards the pricey side, and they only serve till late afternoons and do not do dinners. In the menu, they even included a foreword of how it was the owner's dream to build this bistro along with its brief history and description of the bistro, so I guess kudos to her.
