Last few weeks ago I went down to Miri to go studio-hunting with my hubby, and our trip seemed to have ended up upgrading into a semi-company trip when everyone wanted to join in (well, almost everyone). We reached Miri at about 5, 6pm and we definitely needed to go have a chow down after such a long trip and making it safely to our hotel. So we followed my hubby's colleague's boyfriend (who is a Miri-an) and he took us to a seafood restaurant called Yi-Hah-Hai Seafood.

This be the signboard of the restaurant. It's situated right opposite the riverside which you have to pass by this huge fish monument in the middle of the roundabout that signifies that you are now at Riverview, or something like that, if I'm not mistaken.

This be the outside neon lights for those who have a thing for dining outdoors. Surprisingly this is actually a halal restaurant that serves no pork, which is good for my hubby's colleagues because some of them are Muslim.
This be the downstairs dining. It was almost a huge full-house downstairs, but of course, we were a big group and typical Bruneians cannot stand anywhere without air-conditioning so we were going to eat upstairs instead of dining outdoors

This be some of the things that was on display. It's for the benefit of the customers so they know their food and can choose what to eat. Though I feel a little sorry for the fishes and whatnot, being put there in display, waiting to be eaten. LOL! Apparently according to my friend, that pink fish was supposed to be a pet and not to be eaten, but ah, maybe this restaurant is different, or maybe it's there for pure display and will be the lucky one to escape the frying pan. The crabs were pretty huge, and the prawns were like "Woah~! It has claws~!" kinda feeling. We were definitely in for a treat.
More of the downstair dining, though my hubby warns me not to offend people by taking their picture. Ah, they're in Miri and I'm in Brunei. Who cares?
Going upstairs for our dining~!
Le upstairs signboard.
The upstairs counter, probably to take orders from the downstairs kitchen, or is it the other way round for the downstairs dining?

All of us trying to get some good seats. You can see how a trip for just me and my hubby turn into a whole company affair. LOL!
Our weapon of choice for dining
Miri time is beer time! So I definitely didn't hesitate to order beer along with some colleagues of my hubby's.

Drinks for those who wants to stay sober and saving it for the partying later on, so it's iced lemon tea for my hubby, and herb tea, chrysanthemum and soya bean drink for the others
Our typical Chinese appetizers of salted peanuts, which my hubby is still struggling to use chopsticks to pick them up
Dinner has arrived~! Here comes the rice~! Which reminds me that one of my hubby's colleagues actually ate like about 4 bowls of it!
First up, the steamed prawn, which is amazing ftw! Big, juicy, succullent and crunchy, it was really the perfect Q taste~!! Sadly I only managed to eat two coz everyone attacked it, leaving not much for us. Meh~!
The Curry La-La, or for the proper term, the curry bamboo clam. Sadly the curry only seeped through the shell, but didn't really reach the clam flesh itself, so you still have that seafoody taste instead of the curry taste it supposed to be
Next up: Broiled ferns in oyster sauce, which tastes really good. If only my hubby eats vegetables like everyone else, coz he's really missing out on this

My fav dish that is a must-eat in seafood restaurant: steamed fish~!! Of course, for the benefit of rather than flipping the fish around (something to do with a Chinese superstition in which flipping the fish means flipping out the good luck), they requested the cook to cut the fish into butterfly style so it'll be easier for us to take the flesh. They let me eat the head, which tasted like pure heaven~! I just love fish head~!
Aside from the fern we also have the usual mixed vegetables. Now that, my hubby is willing to eat, or else to him, vegetables are like Kryptonite for carnivores like him.
We also had butter prawn, which I think I only ate one because I was so busy eating everything else that is on my plate
Yeah, the creme de la creme of seafood dining. Nothing is complete without having a crab or two. The meat is pretty juicy, though the crab must've put up a fight even after death by frying pan because he's a really tough nut to crack, literally. But the sauce and the meat tastes amazing!
They have fried squid, which thankfully I didn't eat because they said it was bloody salty. Why the extra salt is beyond me
We have roasted chicken as well, which of course, I aimed for the drumstick, since it's my fav part of the chicken. It tastes really, really good, especially when they got the crunch on the skin just right, and the flesh is really juicy
Another serving of crab but cooked in curry, I think. I didn't get to eat much of that, since, again, I was busy eating everything else
Last but not least, another serving of fish cooked in grilled style with banana leaf. We were pretty much stuffed at that point, so I think I only ate a handful and didn't go for the head
The aftermath of our carnage. LOL~!
So if you have a craving of seafood when you make your trip down to Miri, you can come to this spot to have the best seafood cuisine ever! Although it's best to go in a relatively moderate group of people because, seriously, too much, and you don't get to eat much, but too little, you won't have room in your stomach for more.
