Modesto Bistro and Grill

Sorry for being MIA for a while, coz real life has taken most of my time, and we've been frequenting familiar places that I've already blogged about before, but hey, at least there is some new material. So without further ado, let's get started!

There was a new restaurant in town when my hubs and I went furniture-shopping, and we decided one day we should give it a try on one of our date nights. So finally the day came and we made our way to try this restaurant called Modesto Bistro and Grill

Location: Batu Bersurat, same block as Shabu-Shabu

Setting: Nice bistro feel to it, with a touch of class, though does give off the ominous feeling of "Your food is gonna be super expensive" to it

Random shots of items and trinkets around

Appetizer: Calamari with tartar sauce
Quite fresh and crunchy, though I would've hoped that they have given us a little bit more calamari, but then again, it's appetizers, so you're not supposed to be full before you even got started. The tartar dip sauce compliments really well with it though

Complimentary bread and dip sauce
Oddly enough, the dip sauce was actually just a bit of thick vinegar sauce and sesame oil. Odd to be used as bread dip, but it's something new

My hot chocolate drink

My hubs' hot lemon tea drink
Well, we're in a high-class restaurant, might as well capture everything LOL

My hubs' lamb shank
Took a bite out of his lamb shank. Gotta hand it to them, it actually tastes pretty good. The sauce is right: rich but not too much and just the right thickness, though the veggies needs a little work

My fish and chips
Of course I would order something familiar to test out a new restaurant's skill. It's pretty alright. The batter does taste a little bit floury and it's a little tough to cut through, but at least the fish (as well as the garden salad) was fresh, and I can't complain about the fries either.

All in all, the food there is satisfactory, though the price is pretty heavy on the wallet, so only go there once in a blue moon or if you're feeling rich.

Overall rating: 7/10
