Golden Leaf Reprise

Went to have a dinner date with my buddy and decided to just catch a snapshot of what we were eating, since it's been a while since we eaten bah kut teh, and he was craving it.

Well, despite my loyalty (more or less) to my hometown food, Brunei's bah kut teh is still prolly more flavourful than my hometown's bah kut teh

Empire Hotel Breakfast Buffet

The next day of our stay in Empire Hotel, we had breakfast at the hotel too, and lucky for us, we have breakfast buffet as it is complimentary for us in our package

Since I've made coverage for Atrium Cafe already, I'll just showcase the food that was available at the buffet table

Soto and porridge booth, with choice of condiments for both food types

Egg booth, where you can request how you'd like your eggs to be cooked: scrambled, poached, over-easy, fried or boiled

The pancake booth, though the person watching the booth must've ended his shift, because there were many ready-made pancakes, but it gotten cold, and frankly, when I ate it, it tasted floury

The Asian food buffet section and the Western food buffet section

Salad and sauces, including fruits and such

Bread that you DIY on toasting, with small jars of jams, both strawberry and raspberry, which is super cute in size, wish I could bring one home though

Cold cuts with blue cheese, though we're a little late since most of them have been eaten

DIY baking and assortment of pastries, both Western and Malay

Assortment of cornflakes, cereal and bran from all kinds of brands, but mostly from Kellogg's

Drink station, where they finally have proper drinks, including water, orange, apple, pineapple and mixed fruit juice

Our choice of food

Now, since the atmosphere is much better than last night's dinner, the food was much more enjoyable and tastier, so I would give it a 8.5/10, .5 is coz of the flaw of the cold pancakes

Empire Hotel Dinner

Went to Empire Hotel to have our pre-honeymoon with my hubby for our 1st wedding anniversary, which you can read here, and of course, not wanting to waste our stay, we had dinner there.

Location: Atrium Cafe, within Empire Hotel at Jerudong, Level 3

Setting: Typical hotel restaurant with a high-classed design, fitting for a nice 6-star hotel (though it's surprising how they manage to keep up the business and afford the upkeep when there isn't that much customers in a year)
Atmosphere: 2.5/10 (aside from one or two families and couples patronage, it was very, very silent and empty)
Design: 8/10

Random shots of the drink containers

Drinks: Orange juice and chocolate shake
Presentation: 7/10 and 7.5/10 respectively
Taste: Not sure about my hubby's orange juice, since I didn't try, but for my drink - 7.5/10 (sweet and creamy all at the right places)

Appetizers: Bread and buns with butter
Presentation: 7/10
Taste: 5.5/10 (hard and tough on the teeth)

Food: Beef steak, medium rare, with fries and pan-fried vegs
Presentation: 7/10
Taste: 7.5/10 (had a small chunk of it, but tastes juicy and flavourful)

Food: Fish and chips
Presentation: 6.5/10 (a little overload of french fries, with an assortment of dips and sauce)
Taste: 8.5/10 (despite the fries overload, it's nice and crunchy, and the fish is very fresh)

All in all, if it wasn't for the sad silent atmosphere, I think I would've prolly enjoy myself much, much more. But then again, it's business
