New WK Restaurant

We were craving for a bit of dim sum for breakfast before we head off for our own personal vacation at a resort down in Kinarut, so my dad brought us to go have breakfast at a pretty familiar area.

Location: Around Jalan Bundusan, closer towards the Luyang area

This area is technically familiar to me because I used to go there during my dreaded piano lessons. Thank goodness I'm not learning piano anymore, though I kinda lost my ability to play with both hands now. I love playing the piano, but I don't like the rules that apply to it, unfortunately.

Setting: Very classy Chinese restaurant, befitting of places where dim sum is served

It definitely has greater portion than the usual dim sum we eat back in Brunei, and we were practically stuffed by the time we were done eating. My princess loved it too, so much she made a mess on her baby chair! LOL

It's a good place to have some nice authentic Chinese dim sum, but it's slightly pricier than most dim sum restaurants around, so be prepared to burn a hole in your pocket for this one.

Restoran Foh Chuan

Finally managed to arrange a time to meet up with my godma and her family, so we decided to meet up for breakfast at a Chinese restaurant called Restoran Foh Chuan.

Location: Within the Bundusan Commercial at Penampang area

Setting: Typical Chinese kopitiam design, though prolly need the extra space since it's quite cramped

Their signature dish, the ham choi fried noodles (salted veggie fried noodles)

It was an absolute delight to eat. With the char sau and the sour, pickled taste of the ham choi and the sweet sauce that is poured all over the fried noodles (you can choose either the standard noodles or the mee hoon). OMG! It was like pure heaven, the clash of taste that blend in so well together. I wish I could express myself on the spot how delicious the food was, but I was with my godma and other extended family from my mom in law's side. But I did get seconds!

Highly recommended to try when you're in the Bundusan area. It's even listed in the Google Map, so go ahead and hunt this place down.

Restoran Kim Fah

Finally back with a whole bunch of new eateries. First off, something from back in my hometown of KK, Sabah. It was a spur of the moment trip with my hubs and in-laws during the long Hari Raya weekend, so yeah, needless to say, my dad was quite surprised.

Location: Right around the Bundusan area within Beverly Hills (I think)

Setting: Typical kopi-tiam design, but patronage is pretty good despite almost past dinnertime

It was a pretty satisfying and filling dinner, though my dad keeps asking me to eat and eat and eat, and my princess love her rice with soup so much she practically ate up the whole thing, though it was more like 80% play and 20% eating LOL

I especially love the curry fish head and the pork ribs. Being that in Brunei, a Muslim country, we don't get to eat pork that much, much less pork ribs, so it's a pretty good step up there.

Paddington House of Pancakes

My hubs was having a company sungkai, and the venue was surprisingly very near at our area in Berakas. So of course I gotta document this new place.

Location: Around the Berakas area, right within the block where the furniture store Happy Star is (I think)

I was surprised it was so near to my home. We passed by it everyday and yet barely even noticed it somehow.

Yes, we do, among other things

Setting: A homey, Western look, slightly bistro-ish, slightly wild wild west, but mostly a breakfasty feel to it

Our sungkai is of course, buffet style, so it was an all-you-can-order-and-eat kind of meal just like Caper's do. Below are the list of stuff we ordered. I forgot what their proper names are called so forgive if they didn't come out right and doesn't sound as impressive as it looks LOL

Pumpkin soup, which is already ready in a pot for the buffet. I'm not one for pumpkin soup but this tastes pretty great, or maybe it's just coz I was hungry LOL

Free flow salad

Steak with barbecue mushroom sauce and savory cream (forgot what it was)

Seafood spaghetti with clam

Standard bacon spaghetti carbonara

Crispy seafood mini pizza, with tons of awesome juicy prawns

Waffle burger with all the trimmings, including fries and ham. Though it's kinda weird to have waffles as the burger bun instead of a regular burger bun, but then again this is, after all, a pancake house

Chocolate ice cream with churro-like stuffed pancakes

Fruit and ice cream dessert with pancake bites

At the end of the meal, I was completely stuffed, mainly due to the pancakes they use in most of their food, and some of them are just pancakes overload. But overall, it was a nice experience to eat, though I would recommend that pancakes remain to be a breakfast food rather than a breakfast-lunch-dinner food.
