The Rizqun Coffee House

During the puasa season, at the end of the day, the best part is about the chowdown after a long day of fasting. Well, technically I'm not Muslim, so there is no need for me to fast, but the bargain prices for buffets during this season is hard to pass up. So my buddy, gal pal and I definitely made the trip to chance one of the buffet bargains, which is in Rizqun Coffee House.

This be the signboard and entrance of the coffee house. It's not really a coffee house per se. It's technically a hotel restaurant which is located under the Rizqun Hotel which is conjoined together with The Mall at the far end of the building.

This be the interior and the exterior of the restaurant. Typical Malay hotel design more or less, and as you can see, it's filled with the hustle-bustle of guests gathering altogether for the buffet bargain. Bruneians, always the slave for bargains and best offers, and we have fallen victim for it XD

This is the cake display in front of the exterior dining. Those who want to buy cakes on the fly can go over to buy it, but I doubt they display it in front of everyone during the day since it's fasting time, but looks pretty yummy. Pricey though, but it's a given for hotel food

By the time we were done, we were so bloated that I prolly must've skipped breakfast and lunch the next day or something. LOL! Needed to train my belly to fill more because I have definitely lost my touch. But it's a cool place to eat though, just try aim for the bargain time and not during off-peak times because the price would kill you

Chill-V Kopitiam

Went on another lunch break with my BFF and his wife, so we decided to go eat somewhere which is close to her workplace, which is at the new Chill-V Kopitiam

This be the signboard and entrance of the kopitiam. It's located in one of the Time Square blocks, which situated near the airport roundabout and just opposite the block where Axtivo is (also it's near where my 2nd sis-in-law works). Apparently it was having its soft opening to the public, so we were in luck to premiere their food. Chill-V has always been known to be a drink cafe, specializing in beverages and has its first store at Gadong area just in the building of The Mall. It was about time they ventured out and make something more than just the drinky-drinky.

This be the interior of the restaurant. Entering it, it kinda reminds me of De Olde Kopitiam that was back in my hometown of KK, pretty much in that sort of setting, what with the huge-ass poster on the wall of old 60's version of black and white pictures of the good old Malay days when life was simpler, except the picture was the old Bandar Seri Begawan when it was still the hustle-bustle of life before it became a ghost town.

Trigger-happy on the old school props for restaurant background decor, like stepping into a sort of time machine.

More trigger-happy moments

This be the menu, which is basically a huge cardboard listed with pretty limited food choices, but they've got really wicked list of beverages and desserts, though unfortunately our lunchbreak prolly wouldn't allow us to savour that

Whelp, despite the inability to eat dessert at such short notice, it didn't stop me from ordering a nice tall glass of chocolatey goodness. I think this is the chocolate Oreo special or something that I ordered. Tastes awesome, and the Oreo cookie on the top was a nice touch

I ordered Ipoh soup noodle or something, which basically clear soup kuey tiaw noodles with spring onions, chicken slices and prawn with a dash of chilli oil and lotsa pepper in it. It's nice and simple-looking, and tastes pretty good. Surprisingly it wasn't as bland as I was worried it would be, and the dash of chilli oil gave it a nice kick tint

My BFF's wife ordered fried meehoon, standard style, though she did request it to be with less salt or something. Looks yummy, and she lemme have a taste, which was alright considering. More or less the standard taste of fried meehoon any kopitiam would have

My BFF ordered some kind of laksa noodles or something, but it looks like something you just scoop out of a primordial bowl or something due to all the mesh they stuff in there somehow. I didn't try it, and he didn't seem particularly irked about it, so I guess it's safe to say that it tastes alright, or prolly safe to eat

I had a satisfying meal more or less, and a good shake to go with it, so I guess it is recommendable to everyone. Right now, the Chill-V Kopitiam should be officially open for full business to the public, so go ahead and give it a shot.

Restoran Tes-Kelasik

Finally, got some bulk photos to post and plenty of foodies to introduce. Well, sorta. More like what I have at the moment, since I'm not really going out to eat these days. Anywho, this here is one where I went out to eat with my BFF and his wife, which is Restoran Tes-Kelasik.

This be the signboard of the restaurant. It's located in Kiulap area, which is the same row as Countrypatch Cafe, Lee Loi Fatt and Restoran Aminah Arif. Apparently from what my BFF's wife, they serve pretty good soto food in here, but I pretty much like the one I ate back at Menglait, so we'd like to put this to the test

This be the entrance of the restaurant. The stand out there where the people are gathering is where the soto is. Apparently it's almost like a bit of a buffet-style kind of soto where you can take as much noodles, fillings and soup you want, but the catch is you can only take it once. So yeah, if you want all that you wanna eat from there, that was the only time where you prolly can fill your bowl to the brim with it XD

My drink of warm Horlicks, while my BFF and his wife just ordered plain water. Though I don't get what's the point of eating in a restaurant if you don't order something nice to drink to wash down the food.

My BFF and his wife both ordered wet noodles, though it's interesting to see it cooked in Malay style. For starters it looks slightly darker than Chinese wet noodles, where it's usually translucent in colour, and the flavour apparently, according to my BFF's wife, was actually quite salty. The typical Malay cooking that have that extra something in it

I ordered fried kuay tiaw, of course, since I had the craving for it, though it tasted slightly a little drier than the usual dryness of a fried food, but still, not too bad considering. I didn't go and get the soto because I wasn't really feeling like craving for soto, and it didn't seem like there was much left to eat anyways

A good place to eat if you're considering a small bite for lunch and stuff, other than that it just feels like any other standard Malay mini kopi-tiam-ish restaurant
